As part of a broader research project on the representations and experiences of all stakeholders involved in HIV cure and remission research1-7, the UPMED study aims to document the experiences of physicians and to identify the main factors influencing their decisions in the context of HIV cure/remission clinical trials in France.
This study focuses on two key decisions in the course of these trials: the selection of people living with HIV who are offered participation, and the decision to restart antiretroviral treatment in the context of an analytical treatment interruption.
Bringing together research teams in the social sciences, clinical teams, and a community-based organization, the study includes a qualitative component (individual interviews and observations of medical consultations), a quantitative component (self-administered questionnaires and clinical vignettes), and a workshop.
